Selkie

Selkie is interactive fiction for adults. You play a character inside a story, and every scene is written live by AI as you choose what to do next.

In the old tales of Scotland and Ireland, a selkie is a seal who can slip out of its skin and live a while on land as someone else. That's the idea: step out of your own life and into another one.

How it plays

• You choose, the story answers. Each turn you get a few choices, or you write your own move.
• Real stats, real dice. Risky moves are checked against what your character is good at, and you see the odds before you roll.
• People remember. The characters you meet keep track of what you did to them, and the story grows with you across chapters.
• Every story has its own look, its own world and several endings to earn. Not happy with one? Rewind your last choice for free.

The first stories

Or describe a story in one line and Selkie drafts it for you.

What it costs

Selkie runs on ink. Every new reader gets the opening of a story free and 100 ink to keep going. After that, ink comes in packs:

• Each turn costs a set amount of ink, shown before you choose (10 to 15 ink at launch, about 10 to 15 cents).
• A turn that fails to write is never charged, and rewinding your last choice is free.
• Ink you buy never expires. Unused ink can be refunded within 14 days of purchase. See the refund policy.

Prices are in US dollars. Taxes may be added at checkout depending on where you live.

Good to know

• For adults only (18+). Stories can include danger, grief and romance. Romance stays behind a closed door.
• Written by AI. Every scene is generated as you play, so it's fiction: it can surprise you and it can get things wrong.
• No ads, no tracking. Your stories are yours. See the privacy policy.
